A description of the Duo from the Murad website: Oily or combination skin may experience clogged pores, whiteheads and blackheads that leave your skin looking and feeling unhealthy. Murad Blackhead and Pore Clearing Duo is a two-step process to get your pores unclogged and keep them clear. The first step is an extracting mask treatment that draws impurities and clogs out of your skin. The second step seals your pores so that new debris and clogs can’t cause whiteheads or blackheads. As part of a complete Pore Reform skin care regimen, this two-step regimen improves skin clarity and tone.
I’m always looking for products to fight the sebaceous filaments on my nose. Glam Glow is my go-to, but I’ve noticed that it isn’t always 100% effective. Sometimes my pores will clog back up fairly quickly and other times the pesky left side of my nose (my trouble area) doesn’t respond to the product.
I received a sample duo through a Facebook gift swap and thought I would give it a try.
Initial thoughts: the sample is a great size. Plenty to use it several times and really see if it works for my skin.
How it works: You start with the thick cream. Bonus – it doesn’t smell awful! You wash that off after ten minutes, and then apply a serum to your entire face to prevent pores from re-clogging.
The cream worked really well. After just one use, the pesky left side of my nose looked better than it does with the Glam Glow. Not 100% clear, but definitely on its way. I did not have any ill reaction to the cream or the serum during this first use.
Unfortunately, a couple of days later I noticed a very dry spot on my nose. Then on my chin. It started as something I could just feel, but after using the Murad a couple of more times, I began to see dry spots. It took me several days of deep moisturizing treatments to get my skin back in line.
So bummer. Good product, but too drying for me; I will stick with Glam Glow. I do recommend trying this though – if your face can handle the drying more than mine, you might have really good results.
