Confession: I like to sing and dance in the elevator at work.
Is there a camera in there? I’m not sure. Don’t really care. I think everyone should try it when you steal a moment alone at work; it is awesome. It is all part of my little soundtrack to life and a way to make me smile throughout the day. Sometimes I sing dorky pop songs, sometimes I tackle a rap song that doesn’t really flow out of my mouth the right way, sometimes I make up songs. Actually, I sing about what I’m doing a lot – but usually just in private. I’m not quite comfortable enough with myself to sing like Jess from New Girl.
This morning I didn’t change the radio station from Radio Disney when I dropped my daughter off at school, so I had Selena Gomez’s “Come and Get It” stuck in my head for a while. Over and over again, “When you’re ready come and get it, Na na na na, Na na na na, Na na na na, When you’re ready come and get it. . .”
It gets even better when you start to mix songs with made-up nonsense about what is happening around you: “I’m heading upstairs, Na na na na, Na na na na, Na na na na, Gotta go check my mailbox, Waiting for a check, Waiting for a check, Waiting for a check, It is really quite here, Na na na na. . .”
Geez, I’m such a dork.
